Transferring into the Engineering Tripos
For those who join the Department for start of their third year (Part IIA), there is still a requirement to gain industrial experience. This is slightly reduced to a minimum of four weeks.
Students who wish to transfer to Part IIA of the Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering Triposes from another Tripos must seek advice from the Industrial Placements Coordinator before applying to transfer. The Coordinator will consider whether any vocational experience already gained can be counted towards the industrial or equivalent experience requirement. If not, a meeting is strongly recommended in order to gain a clear understanding of what students need to meet this requirement of the course.
